The Kuma Studios illustration team have been working together for over four years honing their distinctively vibrant style. Inspired by an obsession with cartoons, video games, comics, manga and anime our artists continue to develop a visual language that appeals to generations of kids both young and old. Illustration can be a fantastic solution for a variety of communication problems. It could be pictures that assist a written narrative for young children, or a single image that encapsulates the essence of an entire novel, or a visualisation of an abstract concept, or a character that brings life to an ordinary product, or a scene spanning a magazine cover that generates an alluring interest.
Our team offers a range of illustration-based services including:
• Character design
• Comic artwork
• Editorial illustration
• Storybook illustration
• Exhibition
To see example of these services please go to our Case Studies section.

The Kuma illustration team is made up of two key members.
Martin Lewis is our line artist. All images start as sketches on paper, allowing Martin to speedily explore a range of concepts visually aided by his very over-active imagination. He is also responsible for creating the final line drawings for each of our illustrations which are rendered specifically to meet the demands of the project spec.
Pete Popham is our digital artist. He works closely with Martin throughout the concept development stages and then takes responsibility for finishing the images once the line-work is finalised. Pete digitally colours these illustrations adding additional depth and tone before preparing the finished artwork for it's intended output.
